With roots in Montana and Alaska, Josh comes from a family of mountain based builders and craftsman. Growing up he would watch his great grandpa build small log cabins, or watch his grandpa and uncle build a house. The generational skillset passed down is what inspired Josh to pursue woodworking and design. Like most, he started out by pushing brooms on a construction site, but quickly moved up to installing cabinets and appliances. He acquired skills in finish work and restoration by working remodels.

Through this work, Josh leaned into his passion to create. He started building small pieces of furniture, custom designed lights, and speciality items like axes’, and giving them away to family and friends. With the success of his custom projects, Josh felt he could offer a unique design experience to his clients. Creating one of a kind designs to give each individual home, space, item its own look and be a stand out creation.

He started with a goal to be a high quality craftsman, someone who takes the time and care to deliver the best possible product to his clients whether it's a remodel or a fresh build. After two small restaurant remodels and one very large residential project, he had started making a name for myself.

Josh founded Rustic Recreations with that same goal of high quality  craftsmanship. Since being in Montana, he has become an independent contractor doing everything from demo to cabinetry in homes, businesses, and restaurants.
